Grains were sowed in 2019 as an ambient sound project of synth kids Peregrin Hyde and Calum Turner. After some early releases, they teamed up with their friends Jared Reynolds (Drums), Jed Prickett (Guitar) and Fredd Marshall (Vocals) to form a 5-piece instrumental band, retaining much of their signature synth-driven sound, but dialing it up to maximum crunch. Stomping grooves give way to thrashing cosmic crescendos, infectious hooks and lush and ethereal breakdowns. In 2024, they released their self-titled debut album, Grains.

"There is something in their music that feels primordial. It evokes giant fern trees and man-sized dragonflies and heat. It’s also fun, and propulsive, poppy, makes you want to grow legs and jump out of the primordial pool so you can dance"
