Greta O’Leary
Spook-folk’ sweetheart Greta O’Leary is a north island songwriter and musician with a penchant for uprooting. Pervasive yet spacious, she is poignant, heartbreaking, and occasionally absurd. O’Leary’s voice “reminiscent of a hāngī pit” seizes us, “imbued with earthy, smokey tones” (UTR). Think Angel Olsen meets Vashti Bunyan down-under.
O’Leary’s latest singles ‘Baptised at the Desktop Computer’ and ‘Baby I’m a Singer’ both topped the SRN charts at #1, and received hefty support from local and national radio. Recently the recipient of APRA’s Artist Mentoring programme, she is currently working with her mentor Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, Marlon Williams) and producer Jol Mulholland (Anika Moa, Neil Finn) on her latest works.
